J Herbert NelsonJ. Herbert Nelson, right top, stated clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), will be the convocation speaker, and Cláudio Carvalhaes, right bottom, well-known speaker and worship leader, will lead evening worship.

More than 70 classes for adults, as well as a full program for children and youth, provide great opportunities for learning, renewal and fun.

Nelson, a noted speaker and preacher, and a strong force on issues of social Claudio Carvalhaesjustice, previously served as director of the PC(USA) Office of Public Witness in Washington, D.C.

Carvalhaes, a native of Brazil, joined the faculty of Union Theological Seminary in New York City last fall. He previously served on the faculty of Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Louisville (Ky.) Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. Just a few years ago Carvalhaes was the convocation speaker at Synod School..

Registration for Synod School 2017 is online. Find the classes you want in the catalog, then click on the word “REGISTER” below. It’s easy. (PLEASE NOTE: All suites are full. Those who register for a suite will be placed on a waiting list for a suite, but will be registered for a dorm room.)
