Collegiate, Ecclesiastical and Ecumenical Ministry
The Synod of Lakes and Prairies has a long-standing commitment to collegiate, ecclesiastical and ecumenical ministries within the bounds of the synod. The synod's Ecclesiastical Relations Committee fulfills its mission by supporting and maintaining relationships with these varied ministries, and contributes to their success through its grant program. Additional information and grant application forms are at "Collegiate, Ecclesiastical and Ecumenical Ministry."
Part of the Synod of Lakes and Prairies' support for emerging mission within the synod is through grants. For the grant program, the synod gives priority to proposals that support leadership development, congregational vitality and-or mission, or communication. To find out more, and to find application forms, go to "Emerging Mission."
The Student Scholarship Fund is an educational assistance program designed to encourage racial-ethnic students in their preparation for academic success in higher education. Students must have a permanent residence within the Synod of Lakes and Prairies and be active members in a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregation. To learn more, and find application forms, go to "Scholarships."
Self-Development of People (SDOP)
The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) website notes: "Self-Development of People is a ministry that affirms God's concern for humankind. We are Presbyterians and ecumenical partners dissatisfied with poverty and oppression, united in faith and action through sharing, confronting and enabling." The Synod of Lakes and Prairies maintains its own Self-Development of People Committee. To learn more about SDOP and to apply for a grant, check out "SDOP."
